Skolis Terms of Service

Welcome to Skolis. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Skolis website, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using Skolis, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. About Skolis

Skolis is an AI-powered mentoring platform designed to help educators reflect on their teaching, organize ideas, and receive educational guidance and suggestions.

Skolis provides informational and educational assistance only. It does not replace professional judgment, school policies, district requirements, legal advice, mental health services, or any other professional services.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Skolis.

By creating an account, you represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you have the legal authority to enter into these Terms.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.

You are responsible for all activity occurring under your account.

You agree to notify Skolis immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.

5. Student Information

Skolis is intended to help teachers think through classroom situations.

Users should avoid entering personally identifiable student information whenever possible.

You remain solely responsible for complying with FERPA, COPPA, district policies, and any other applicable privacy laws.

6. AI-Generated Content

Skolis uses artificial intelligence to generate responses.

AI responses:

  • may contain inaccuracies
  • may be incomplete
  • may become outdated
  • should not be relied upon as the sole basis for educational decisions

You remain fully responsible for all classroom, employment, disciplinary, grading, instructional, and professional decisions.

7. No Professional Advice

Skolis does not provide:

  • legal advice
  • psychological counseling
  • medical advice
  • employment advice
  • financial advice
  • emergency assistance

Always use your own professional judgment.

8. Subscription & Billing

Skolis is offered as a monthly subscription.

Current pricing is displayed within the Service.

Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled.

Users may cancel at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal.

Cancellation stops future billing but does not refund charges already incurred except where required by law.

9. Free Trial

Skolis may offer a free trial.

Unless canceled before the trial ends, your subscription automatically converts into a paid subscription.

Trial availability may be limited to one per user.

10. Refund Policy

Except where required by law:

  • subscription fees are non-refundable
  • partial months are not refunded
  • unused time is not refunded

11. Intellectual Property

All software, branding, logos, text, graphics, AI prompts, workflows, and design elements remain the property of Skolis.

You may not copy, distribute, reverse engineer, or commercially exploit any part of the Service without permission.

12. Your Content

You retain ownership of the content you submit.

You grant Skolis a limited license to process, store, and display your content solely for providing the Service.

13. Availability

We strive to keep Skolis available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.

Maintenance, outages, updates, or third-party failures may temporarily affect availability.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Users may delete their accounts at any time.

Termination does not relieve outstanding payment obligations.

15. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE."

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Skolis disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Skolis and its owners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

In no event shall Skolis's total liability exceed the amount you paid during the twelve months preceding the claim.

17. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Skolis and its owners from claims arising from:

  • your use of the Service
  • your violation of these Terms
  • your violation of applicable laws
  • your misuse of AI-generated content
