Skolis Terms of Service
Welcome to Skolis. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Skolis website, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using Skolis, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
1. About Skolis
Skolis is an AI-powered mentoring platform designed to help educators reflect on their teaching, organize ideas, and receive educational guidance and suggestions.
Skolis provides informational and educational assistance only. It does not replace professional judgment, school policies, district requirements, legal advice, mental health services, or any other professional services.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Skolis.
By creating an account, you represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you have the legal authority to enter into these Terms.
3. Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
You are responsible for all activity occurring under your account.
You agree to notify Skolis immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- violate any applicable laws
- infringe another person's rights
- upload malicious software
- attempt unauthorized access
- interfere with the operation of the Service
- use Skolis to generate illegal or harmful content
- impersonate another person
- misuse the Service for spam or fraud
5. Student Information
Skolis is intended to help teachers think through classroom situations.
Users should avoid entering personally identifiable student information whenever possible.
You remain solely responsible for complying with FERPA, COPPA, district policies, and any other applicable privacy laws.
6. AI-Generated Content
Skolis uses artificial intelligence to generate responses.
AI responses:
- may contain inaccuracies
- may be incomplete
- may become outdated
- should not be relied upon as the sole basis for educational decisions
You remain fully responsible for all classroom, employment, disciplinary, grading, instructional, and professional decisions.
7. No Professional Advice
Skolis does not provide:
- legal advice
- psychological counseling
- medical advice
- employment advice
- financial advice
- emergency assistance
Always use your own professional judgment.
8. Subscription & Billing
Skolis is offered as a monthly subscription.
Current pricing is displayed within the Service.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled.
Users may cancel at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal.
Cancellation stops future billing but does not refund charges already incurred except where required by law.
9. Free Trial
Skolis may offer a free trial.
Unless canceled before the trial ends, your subscription automatically converts into a paid subscription.
Trial availability may be limited to one per user.
10. Refund Policy
Except where required by law:
- subscription fees are non-refundable
- partial months are not refunded
- unused time is not refunded
11. Intellectual Property
All software, branding, logos, text, graphics, AI prompts, workflows, and design elements remain the property of Skolis.
You may not copy, distribute, reverse engineer, or commercially exploit any part of the Service without permission.
12. Your Content
You retain ownership of the content you submit.
You grant Skolis a limited license to process, store, and display your content solely for providing the Service.
13. Availability
We strive to keep Skolis available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
Maintenance, outages, updates, or third-party failures may temporarily affect availability.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
Users may delete their accounts at any time.
Termination does not relieve outstanding payment obligations.
15. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE."
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Skolis disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Skolis and its owners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
In no event shall Skolis's total liability exceed the amount you paid during the twelve months preceding the claim.
17. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Skolis and its owners from claims arising from:
- your use of the Service
- your violation of these Terms
- your violation of applicable laws
- your misuse of AI-generated content
18. Changes
We may update these Terms periodically.
Material changes will be posted within the Service.
Continued use constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.
19. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict of law principles.
